Quality Board for Higher Education in Iceland

Partners and stakeholders

The Board works closely with the universities, through the Quality Council and the national rectors’ conference; the students, through the National Union of Icelandic students (LÍS); and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. To maintain currency with Icelandic developments, the Board meets regularly with working-life stakeholders. International partners include the Nordic Quality Assurance Network in Higher Education (NOQA) and the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

The Quality Board meets annually with different groups of working life stakeholders to discuss the current needs of business and industry, as well as the future characteristics of the Icelandic job market. These groups are identified through discussions with the universities and industry and business associations. These meetings inform the Quality Board's regular discussions with the universities and will also inform the development of the next cycle of the Quality Enhancement Framework for Icelandic Higher Education.
