Quality Board for Higher Education in Iceland

Refreshing the Board

Barbara Brittingham is stepping down from the Quality Board after 11 years of service. Barbara, a founding inspiration in the creation of the Quality Enhancement Framework, went on to contribute significantly to the full development and implementation of QEF1 and QEF2. Her breadth and depth of experience has been influential in the work of the Board in many areas including her ability to attract senior US reviewers to Iceland. The Board thank Barbara for her enthusiastic commitment and her countless contributions to the Icelandic higher education sector. She will be greatly missed. Nonetheless, we hope that the Board will be able to tempt Barbara back from time to time to allow us to continue to draw on her wealth of experience, albeit in a different capacity.

We are delighted to announce that Crichton Lang, former Vice-Chancellor (Rector) of the University of the Highlands and the Islands, has joined the Quality Board from November 2021. Crichton has been a reviewer in Iceland in both QEF1 and QEF2. He brings with him in-depth knowledge of the Scottish QEF as well as keen understanding of the role that university leadership plays in ensuring and enhancing quality. The Board look forward to working with him in our full range of work including the completion and evaluation of QEF2 and the development and implementation of QEF3.
